Army child, then soldier and spouse of 50+ years
I grew up as an Army child, then was a soldier and now am an Army spouse. I started blogging in 2007 with "Life Lessons of a Military Wife". Unique experiences and an easy to understand blog format is what created a following and made this blog the #1 overseas blog for servicemembers and their families overseas. After taking a break from blogging, I continued to maintain a Facebook page, where I shared resources and advice and answered questions and concerns as they came in. I had a stint as the USO Tours Manager in Stuttgart, Germany, planning tours and bus travel all over Europe. When I was younger, I was a tourguide and my most memorable moments included getting rowdy hotel guests off the roof of the hotel and bailing one of my charges out of a Spanish jail. My husband and I have been stationed many times in Germany and also in Belgium. I'm a native German speaker which as you've probably guessed means I will handle the rough stuff so it's just smooth sailing for my readers. My goal is to empower you and to support those who may be struggling or overwhelmed. This first eBook in the series was written to help military servicemembers, families and American expats as they transition into their life overseas. Stay tuned for two more eBooks, one on living overseas and the other on traveling in Europe.
On our second move or PCS, we hosted a party the night before and the movers packed our trash!
My big dog and I were denied boarding the Patriot Express (PE) on a move to Germany and had to scramble!
We had a back to back overseas move and were smart enough to book space in the kennel but didn't think to check the shorter opening hours on a Sunday. Guess who spent the night in the car with the dog and the cat?
I usually don't comment or email bloggers, but after three weeks in Germany I just have to write a thank you. I have used your website from the second we got our orders and it has been extremely helpful. Talking to a lot of newcomers here in lodging, I realize how much I have learned from your site. We shipped our things and car early, found housing quick, and have been adjusting well. I really do attribute that to your thoroughness and expertise. Thank you for all you do!
